Curtis calls his ’14 Toyota Tacoma “my Taco”, but her official name is ‘Warthog’ “like the warthog vehicle from Halo 3.” He grew up off-roading with his dad in an old K5 Blazer and his personal “addiction” began with an ’85 Toyota pickup “straight outta Back To The Fu- ture.” Curtis calls White Rock, BC home and he bought his “taco brand new off the lot, bone stock. Every modification, aside from the ARB Airlocker, I’ve installed myself.”

It’s got a mix of every type of wheeling you can think of. It has a breathtaking landscape that is beautiful as much as it is delicate.”

Curtis is a member of two BC 4WD clubs: “Both of them are active in charity work and main- tain a lot of the trails we have so that we can keep access to the land.” His most extreme challenge so far has been the Eagle Mountain, Gate Keeper: “It’s a short rock garden on the way to the look out that looks down at Deep Cove. Going up was no problem, had to bump it a little, but I made it up with minor wheel spin. Coming down is a whole other story. The long wheelbase of a DCLB Tacoma makes it

Gate Keeper is kind of like a table… I almost took the truck over the edge of the table down a cliff. Had to stack a million rocks just to back up and try it again…I’ve done Gate Keeper 3 times and this has happened 3 times. I have no idea why I keep going back. Adrenaline rush? Yup.”
